Sustainability at WAS
Responsibility for people and the environment

High standards ensure quality.
And the foundations of our environment.

WAS manufactures special vehicles that people trust with important tasks or the lives of their occupants. That is why we know how important responsibility is. Perhaps this is one reason why we have introduced an environmental management system in addition to our quality management system. That is why we rely on sustainable processes and solutions to minimise our ecological footprint and at the same time shape the future of mobility responsibly.

Our goal is to operate sustainably while delivering the highest quality. For us, sustainability means not only acting in an environmentally conscious manner, but also making responsible and future-proof decisions in the long term. Find out more about how we are shaping this path and how our commitment is contributing to sustainable development.

We are certified
DIN EN ISO 14001

At WAS, responsibility is our top priority – not only for the quality of our special vehicles, but also for the environment. Our production sites are certified according to the globally recognised DIN EN ISO 14001 standard to ensure that we design the entire production process to be sustainable and environmentally friendly. Independent auditors regularly check where we can make further improvements. For us, sustainability means taking responsibility for people and for nature – and ensuring that the air here in northern Germany stays as clear and fresh as it is.

The future of sustainable mobility
Minimising the carbon footprint

At WAS, we are actively committed to making future mobility more sustainable and environmentally friendly. Through continuous research and development of innovative drive technologies, such as electric solutions, we are creating the basis for low-emission and efficient vehicles that meet the requirements of modern mobility.

Our goal is to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of our vehicles while maximising performance and reliability. In addition to introducing alternative drive systems, we are working on integrating resource-saving materials and intelligent technologies into vehicle production to further reduce environmental pollution.

The future of sustainable mobility lies in combining innovative technologies and responsible action. At WAS, we are ready to take on this challenge and do our part for a greener world – today and in the future.

Sustainable production at WAS
Responsibility from start to finish

At WAS, we understand sustainability as a holistic approach that runs through the entire production process – from the selection of materials to the delivery of our vehicles. Our responsibility begins with the procurement of materials. We select environmentally friendly, recyclable materials that meet the high quality standards of our vehicles while minimising environmental impact.

Our manufacturing methods are designed to use energy efficiently and reduce waste. By using modern technologies and energy-efficient machines, we can minimise the resources required while maximising the quality of our vehicles. We have also implemented processes that reduce waste and emissions to a minimum.

A central component of our sustainable production is the close cooperation with suppliers who share the same high standards of sustainability. All our partners are certified according to the internationally recognised standard DIN EN ISO 14001, which ensures that they work in an environmentally friendly and resource-efficient manner. These partnerships enable us to make our entire supply chain as environmentally conscious and sustainable as possible.

Our vehicles are built to last and are highly reliable – and that is precisely what we aim for in the production process: long-term, sustainable and responsible action that benefits people and the environment alike.

Sustainability as a process
Continuous improvement at WAS

At WAS, we see sustainability as an ongoing process that never stands still. Regular audits and reviews of our environmental performance help us to identify potential weaknesses and to continuously improve. Independent auditors ensure that our measures meet the highest standards and that we are making sustainable progress in all areas. For us, sustainability is not just a one-off goal, but an obligation that we live by and constantly optimise every day.

Social responsibility
in the supply chain

Sustainability at WAS encompasses not only environmentally friendly production processes, but also social responsibility throughout our supply chain. We ensure that our suppliers guarantee fair working conditions, ethical business practices and responsible procurement. Through close partnerships and clear standards, we ensure that everyone involved – from suppliers to end customers – benefits from our commitment to sustainability and social justice. At WAS, sustainability means more than just environmental protection – it is a holistic approach that takes equal account of people and nature.
