In Mannheim, the first eleven standardised emergency ambulances were handed over to the regional associations of Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe Baden-Württemberg. The handover took place in an appreciative and lovingly prepared atmosphere – with decorated vehicles, personal key handovers and many participants who made this moment possible.
Among those present were:
Thomas Harnisch (state executive committee),
Tobias Siffringer (state rescue service director) and
Matthias Schärr (pastor of the state association for the Baden Regional Church and pastor of the Baden regional association).
The 11 RTWKO WAS 500 vehicles handed over – five on MAN and six on Mercedes-Benz Sprinter – mark the start of a common standard that was agreed and implemented in just 18 months. The vehicles are equipped with the WAS design warning system, the WAS Control central electrical system and stickers in the current JUH design, among other things.
Five regional associations are taking delivery of the vehicles, coordinated by State Rescue Service Director Tobias Siffringer. For the JUH in Baden-Württemberg, this is a significant step towards standardising and modernising its rescue service fleet.
The project is continuing to progress, with more vehicles to follow in 2026.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe Baden-Württemberg for their trust and constructive cooperation.
