New major contract for the THW:

WAS builds specialised vehicles based on the MAN TGE

We are delighted to have secured another major contract in the field of public service and emergency vehicles: in collaboration with MAN Truck & Bus, we will be producing a total of 490 special vehicles for the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW). The project comprises 350 command vehicles and 140 personnel carriers based on the MAN TGE and is one of the largest current vehicle procurement programmes in German civil protection and disaster management.

As a manufacturer of specialised Ambulance and Special Vehicles, we undertake the development and construction of bespoke bodies and fittings. The vehicles are individually tailored to the THW’s requirements and fitted with the necessary operational equipment. The aim is to provide modern, reliable and practical vehicles that offer the THW optimal support in its wide range of operations.

Production of the crew transport vehicles is already underway. Following successful testing of the prototypes, series production will commence in August 2026. At the same time, development of the command vehicles will begin, with series production scheduled to start in July 2027. Delivery of all vehicles will take place in stages until 2029.

This contract represents another milestone for us and confirms our expertise as a partner for bespoke special-purpose vehicle solutions. Particularly in the field of civil protection and disaster relief, there is a demand for vehicles that meet the highest standards of functionality, quality and reliability. It is precisely these standards that we strive to achieve in the development and manufacture of our vehicles.

With this project, we are further expanding our long-standing collaboration with public sector clients and, together with MAN, are making an important contribution to ensuring that the THW’s volunteer emergency services continue to be equipped with modern and high-performance technology in the future.
