What does a modern rescue vehicle look like that is precisely tailored to the daily challenges of urban and rural areas? This question was at the heart of an intensive development process that we were able to carry out together with our Danish partner Mercedes-Benz P. Christensen and the end customer Ambulance Syd in the southern Denmark region.
In close cooperation, a tailor-made prototype based on the MB Sprinter 417 panel van was developed, combining the wishes of the emergency services with the technical requirements of the system. The conversion combines proven WAS concepts with customer-specific solutions – from modular interior fittings to intelligent control technology.
The successful launch of this project marks the start of delivery of a larger series: 30 vehicles will be manufactured and handed over this year. Further units will follow in 2026 and 2027, bringing the total order to 56 vehicles plus 9 optional ones.
Highlights of the new vehicles:
- MB Sprinter 417 panel van, 4.1 t, with two sliding doors
- WAS Control central electrical system for intuitive operation
- Modular WAS 300 ABS interior fittings with well thought-out storage space concept
- Oxygen supply from Hestomed with Redox.Remote remote control
- Kartsana Bravo patient transport system for comfortable patient handling
- Integrated warning system from Marelko and additional signalling technology from Hänsch
Special thanks go to Allan Mose and Jens Roed from Ambulance Syd and Klaus Kjaer and Preben Andersen from Mercedes-Benz P. Christensen for their dedicated and focused cooperation. The project is an example of what can be achieved when expertise and practical experience come together.
