Doors from WAS
for ambulances and special-purpose vehicles

All access and equipment doors on our ambulances and special-purpose vehicles close in a double fold with two seals. The double fold on the door and on the side of the box ensures that the patient compartment is well protected against noise and moisture from outside.

The bonded windows on all the doors of our vehicle bodies are flush with the vehicle surface, creating a very smooth surface. The improved aerodynamics achieved in this way save fuel and reduce wind noise. At the same time, the windows ensure that the interior is quieter, as they are separated from the interior by the adhesive. Cleaning the ambulance or special-purpose vehicle is also easier.

The windows are tinted without the use of films, which increases hygiene and durability. This ensures that the interior remains private at all times. All of the recessed door handles are designed for both right- and left-handed users. The generous handle depth allows them to be fully engaged even when wearing work gloves.

WAS Door Assist closing aid

An electromechanical closing aid, WAS Door Assist, has been developed for all sliding and hinged doors. When hinged and sliding doors are closed in the conventional manner, an extremely unpleasant overpressure can develop for the patient and the assistant in the patient compartment, accompanied by a corresponding noise. The WAS Door Assist System pulls the door closed and locks it silently and without creating excess pressure. This helps to avoid additional stress for patients and medical staff. The electric door closer is optionally available for all doors.

side-hinged door

The side-hinged door can be combined with a mechanical or electrical step. This special mechanism allows the step to be retracted and extended when the door is operated. By positioning the step outside the patient compartment, the entire work surface in the interior is retained even after the door has been opened.

sliding side door

  • When opened, sliding doors slide along the emergency vehicle to save space. For rescue operations in confined spaces, the advantages of sliding doors are obvious. When opened 90°, hinged doors require more than five times (over 500%) more space.
  • Rescuers have direct access to the emergency equipment.
  • The guide rail is low maintenance as it runs in the steel guide completely lubrication-free.
  • The sliding door allows for a large vehicle opening with its passage height of 1798 mm, thus facilitating the work of the emergency services.
  • The double latch locks are connected to the vehicle's central locking system.
  • The precision profiles are CNC-manufactured and seal airtight.
  • All profiles are powder-coated and glued over their entire surface without rivets. This results in a very high stability, which in turn allows for thinner walls and less weight.

rear door

  • The rear doors can be opened up to 270°, providing an extra-large access opening. The generous access to the patient compartment without wide side profiles simplifies loading and provides more room for the assistant to move.
  • The hinges with integrated bush bearings in the profile of the rear door enable a comfortable swing angle and are even maintenance-free.
  • Windscreen hooks with automatic locking at 90° allow the doors to be securely locked when space is limited in the parking area. When opening the door at an angle of 270°, magnetic holders hold the door in position.
  • The automatic vent for overpressure compensation facilitates safe and convenient closing of the door.
  • Depending on customer requirements, numerous different lift solutions and loading aids can be integrated.
