Suitcases from WAS
for ambulances and special-purpose vehicles

WAS boxes for ambulances and special vehicles are manufactured using a vacuum process that has been continuously perfected over decades, guaranteeing high strength and robustness with a thinner and lighter construction. The lower weight of the lightweight box improves the energy efficiency of the vehicle: less weight means lower fuel consumption.

The box body achieves further stability at a lower weight through aluminium struts with reinforcements for the installation of medical technology, etc. The stable rear portal additionally strengthens the box structure and thus ensures rollover and crash safety.

Thanks to the optimal use of space, the box, with its comparatively slim design, offers just as much space for patients, helpers and equipment as more bulky solutions. The WAS manufacturing process, with the latest technology and special materials, enables an overall thinner design, thus also reducing the overall weight.

The rear doors can be opened up to 270° and locked at 90° and 270°, which allows for a very wide rear opening.

Precise and customised

  • Industrial production guarantees consistent workmanship with low tolerance and high precision. Repeat orders, e.g. of flaps or doors, fit perfectly.
  • Production using CNC machines is extremely precise, with a maximum tolerance of just +/- 2 mm over a processing length of 12 metres.
  • Since each box is manufactured in-house, we can respond quickly and individually to customer requests.

Robust and durable

  • The PU insulation of the case allows it to be used in all climate zones: the case is temperature-resistant from -30° to +120°C, and repels water and moisture.
  • The 2K nano polyester coating replaces the painting of the case. It is highly UV and abrasion resistant and insensitive to scratches, e.g. from branches. The coating makes the case corrosion-free.
  • The LOTUS effect prevents dirt and water from leaving marks on the outer surface of the case. This not only benefits the appearance, but also reduces maintenance and the associated costs.
  • The interior of the box body is equipped with a PVC floor that is seamlessly welded, non-slip and resistant to disinfectants. It has the highest abrasion class in industrial floor quality. The PVC floor is available in a range of colours. For additional insulation and protection against stone chippings, underbody protection can be optionally applied.

Tried and tested, certified in many ways

  • The box body has been successfully rollover and crash tested.
  • The box body and its built-in components and materials are fully recyclable.
  • Thanks to its special frame construction, the rear portal of the WAS box is the outstanding stabilising element.
  • According to the Millbrook test, a Fiat Ducato ambulance with a box body consumes up to 6% less fuel than the same model as a panel van. And lower consumption also means lower emissions.
  • A box body can continue to be used on a new base vehicle.
