Wietmarscher Ambulanz- und Sonderfahrzeugbau (WAS), one of the leading international companies in the industry, is taking over GEWA Karosserie- und Fahrzeugbau GmbH from Essen on 1 January 2024. GEWA was founded in 1990 and acquired by Fahrzeugwerke LUEG AG, Bochum, in 2005. In the course of the current reorganisation, LUEG decided to bundle all special vehicle construction under the umbrella of its subsidiary WAS. However, GEWA remains an independent company. "We are delighted to be able to take special vehicle construction within the LUEG Group to a new level together with GEWA. The joint expertise of the two specialists GEWA and WAS creates many synergies and also opens up new marketing opportunities for us together," summarises Dirk Henke, the new Managing Director of GEWA.
