A new generation of vehicles in service: six new first response vehicles handed over

The new first response vehicles (FRVs) will replace the vehicles previously in service, some as much as twelve years old, and are designed to transport emergency doctors in the LHH emergency services system. The vehicles which are to be replaced have mileages of up to 260,000 km and the engines, drive trains and chassis have been subjected to extreme loads on account when driven on emergency operations.

The new FRVs are designed as emergency assistance providers in the LHH emergency services system and will be used to transport the emergency doctor quickly and to transport special medical equipment on operations where they will meet up with ambulances. In order to do this, the vehicle is equipped with comprehensive medical supplies and equipment to meet the specific requirements.

Devices and materials in the vehicles are arranged in such a way as to enable the special FRV equipment to be removed quickly through two sliding side doors on normal operations when working with an ambulance. Devices and materials are loaded behind the tailgate, which is only necessary in special operation conditions or in order to make the vehicle ready for use once more.

The vehicles have innovative rear markings to guarantee improved recognisability in flowing traffic, thus providing more effective protection for the vehicle and crew.

The cost of a first response vehicle is roughly 80,000 euros, without equipment and medical technology. These costs can be absorbed by the previous vehicles, since they must be continuously updated. (Value of existing equipment and medical technology: approx. 60,000 euros per vehicle)
