Better from experience: The new WAS Hydro Universal Ambulance Table.

A Basic vehicle and a box body alone do not make an ambulance. The emergency vehicle system includes countless large and small details, all of which have to be carefully combined and well thought out. One of the indispensable components of many ambulances is, of course, the ambulance table, which is in use in thousands of WAS vehicles worldwide.

Just like all other components of our vehicles, we have also constantly checked the ambulance table for improvement po-tential and developed it accordingly. User wishes and sugge-stions were incorporated into the development at a very early stage. This includes today‘s standards such as the head-up/head-down position, the side shift or also the switching bet-ween swing mode and fixation. Initially, the WAS ambulance table was only used in German ambulances before it became established internationally in recent years - quality prevails. It is only in recent years that ergonomic and back-friendly work has become more and more important in the ambulance ser-vice. We took this welcome development as an opportunity to fundamentally redesign our ambulance table. We have opti-mised and retained our tried and tested features, such as the electrohydraulics, and rethought or supplemented others. The result: With our new ambulance table, WAS Hydro Universal, we combine the advantages of the hydraulic table with those of new electro-hydraulic stretcher and loading systems.

The most important innovations of the WAS Hydro Universal:

Ergonomic advantages through electrohydraulics: the new ambulance table can now accommodate elec-trohydraulic systems in addition to manual stretcher sys-tems, thus combining the advantages of the conventional table (variable working height, lateral adjustment, head-up/head-down position) with the back-friendly work by means of an electrohydraulic stretcher. When the mobile stretcher is pulled out, the upper tub of the table automa-tically lowers to the required level to allow ergonomic loa-ding and unloading of the stretcher.

Ergonomics plus: In addition, the new ambulance table can also be equipped with an upper tub including the WAS Multi-Load Assist move-in assistance.

Higher load capacity: The new ambulance table can carry up to 500 kg of weight - approx. 150 kg more than the previous version!

More maintenance-friendly than ever before: Tech-nology needs regular maintenance to function properly. Service, maintenance and repair work can be carried out quickly and easily in just a few steps.

Unique - no air suspension necessary: The optimum loading height is achieved via automatic lowering. Thus, the installation of an air suspension on the rear axle is not necessary.

Proven functions are retained:
Stepless locking is possible at any height.

The loading height can be adjusted once by pressing a button and the loading platform can be returned to its horizontal position.

The ambulance table can be shifted 128 mm to the left or right in a multi-stage parallel lateral movement.

Due to the weight-dependent shock absorption, the oscil-lation behaviour adapts to the respective patient weight.

Operating errors are ruled out by a logical control system, and manual emergency operation is possible at any time.

The table is very flat and stands only approx. 210 mm above the vehicle floor in the lowered position.

The extension and the side shift are mounted on ball bearings and in linear guides. This means that, if ne-cessary, the layout of the patient compartment can be changed and adapted.

Valuable feedback from practice.

In order to develop as close as possible to the conditions of use, we at WAS usually involve rescue services from the im-mediate vicinity in our deliberations and interim stages for all new ideas or innovations. We have our new developments tes-ted by their teams as prototypes in the field. For the long-term test of the WAS Hydro Universal in the regular rescue service, we were in regular contact with Christian Patschorke (Deputy Head of Rescue Service) and his team. For the test phase, we equipped an ambulance of the DRK Grafschaft-Bentheim  e. V. (German Red Cross) with the prototype of the new am-bulance table in order to obtain valuable feedback from the re-scue services before making the decision for series production. We would like to express our sincere thanks for the helpful and constructive cooperation!
