And we meet people who have very special stories to tell through their work in the emergency services. This is how news worth reporting from special vehicle construction and rescue services continuously emerges, which we are happy to share here.

That’s pretty normal: Christine Strätker, dual student in mechatronics.

Women in male professions may no longer be a complete rarity, but when Christine Strätker talks about her dual engineering studies in the field of mechatronics, she always looks around to see surprised faces. In the Engineering of Technical Systems degree programme, she is currently one of eight women out of a total of around 50 people; in the field of electronics/mechatronics, she is one of two.

The Hanover Fire Brigade – an exemplary rescue and fire protection unit.

Rainer Kunze from the Hanover City Fire Brigade welcomes us on a Monday in March. We are led by him through long corridors and quite a few doorways in Fire and Rescue Station 1, which was completed only two years ago. The station houses the regional control centre as well as all units of the rescue service, a fire enginge, special vehicles, plus the administration and workshops of the Hanover Fire Brigade.
